Learning About Emotions


Week of February 11th 2018

THEME: Emotions

MAJOR LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

TWO YEAR OLDS
I can recognize emotions.
I can use words to label my feelings
I can identify basic shapes.
THREE YEAR OLDS
I can take part in a Valentine’s Day celebration
I can express a range of emotions verbally and  through facial expressions
I can try to rhyme words and sounds.
PRE-K
I can identify body language to understand feelings in myself and others.
I can manage my feelings in an appropriate manner.
I can participate in multiple classroom experiments.

Cost: $20/day

MAKE-UP DAYS
On the original school calendar we indicated that there would be no school on March 16th for teacher in-service and no school on April 20th for conferences. However we now plan to be open both of these days to make-up for recent inclement weather closings.

Five Senses

Theme: 5 Senses

Bible Verse for the week:  But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears for they hear. --Matthew 13:16

Using our five senses strengthens our everyday experiences. It helps us understand the world around us.
·         What noises did you hear?
·         What is it you saw?
·         What did it smell like?
·         Did you like the taste?
·         How did it feel?

Learning About Parts of the Body

THEME:
           PARTS OF THE BODY

I can create a self portrait and appreciate differences and similarities between myself and others.

Friday, February 2nd
Dress up like you are 100 years old!
The classes will celebrate by learning about the number 100.


Beginning Wednesday, Feb. 14 we are excited to start offering LUNCH BUNCH, an extended day option for all 3-5 year olds. For an additional $20/day our play and educational experiences will be available until 3pm. Please bring a packed lunch!

Preparing For Christmas

4-Year-Old News
To learn about Transportation the 4’s will do dump truck counting, ramp building, train car lineup, types of transportation, various books on the subject, "The Transportation Song," rocket races, 3D airplanes, and a train track adventure!

This week we are learning the following objectives:

  • I can discover that Mary and Joseph rode a donkey or camel to Bethlehem.
  • I can identify the form and sound of Jj.
  • I can learn about transportation through fiction and nonfiction books.
