March News

From the Teachers:
March 21-25
This week we have learned all about Easter!
We talked about why Easter is such an important celebration as a Christian because it is the culmination of God’s plan of salvation for us – His Son Jesus who died for us!  We made water resist crosses with water colors, to remind us that Jesus died on the cross on Good Friday.  We colored Easter eggs after learning the Easter story as told with Easter eggs and small items inside each egg.  This also gave us an opportunity to learn about the color wheel and mixing colors.

We made palm frond art using our hands to help us recall how Jesus was greeted as he entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.  We made Resurrection Rolls on Friday to help us learn and remember the story of Jesus' death and resurrection on Easter Sunday!  We have also learned about the letter Ww.  Ask your child about the new words that start with W and we have written, signed and sounded out the letter Ww.

You are invited to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Easter Celebration!

Bible Story History Lesson
Date/Title/Summary
Stories told from the My Bible Storybook by  Micahel Burghof
March 21 – Luke 17:11-19
One Man Thanks Jesus
Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem and he traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. 12 As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance 13 and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!”
14 When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed. 15 One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. 16 He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him.
March 22 – Jesus Loves Children
Mark 10:13-16
13 People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.
March 23 – Jesus Enters Jerusalem
Mark 11:1-10
As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples, saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’”
They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it, some people standing there asked, “What are you doing, untying that colt?” They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go. When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it. Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted,
“Hosanna!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
10 “Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!”
“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
March 24 –  People Praise Jesus
Luke 19: 28-38
10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”
11 The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”
